Defence & national security
Dual-use robotics for Canada's defence and security missions.
Remote Robotic Systems has supplied the Canadian Armed Forces since 2022. We supply, integrate, train, and sustain unmanned systems for defence and national-security operators — and through AirMetal Robotics, our manufacturing division, we build sovereign systems in Canada.
Buy. Partner. Build.
Capability today, industrial capacity for tomorrow.
Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy calls for a stronger domestic industrial base and more secure supply chains. Our three motions are built for exactly that: buy proven platforms now, partner to bring production capability into Canada, and build sovereign systems here.
01
Buy
Proven capability, now. We supply and integrate best-in-class platforms from global OEMs — aircraft, ground robots, subsea vehicles, payloads, and comms — matched to the mission and the operating environment.
02
Partner
We license and partner to move manufacturing capability and secure supply chain into Canada, rather than importing finished goods. That aligns directly with Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy objective of a stronger domestic industrial base.
03
Build
Through AirMetal Robotics, our manufacturing division in Kanata, Ontario, we build sovereign unmanned systems in Canada — licensed Orqa MRM platforms and AirMetal's own TacMesh tactical mesh networking payloads.
AirMetal Robotics
Designed in Croatia. Built in Canada.
AirMetal Robotics is the manufacturing division of Remote Robotic Systems, with engineering and production in Kanata, Ontario.
AirMetal Robotics is Orqa's exclusive licensed manufacturing and distribution partner in Canada. Orqa designs the MRM platforms in Croatia; AirMetal builds them in Canada. The licence moves manufacturing capability and supply chain into Canada rather than importing finished goods. AirMetal also designs its own systems, including the TacMesh family of tactical mesh networking payloads.
Integration and sustainment, in country
Hardware is the start. We integrate payloads, comms, docks, and command-and-control pipelines into the way your teams already work — then keep the fleet flying with Canadian service, training, and remote operations support.
Five Canadian offices
Mississauga (HQ), Ottawa, Calgary, Burnaby, and Montréal.
OEM-trained repair & calibration
In-country service keeps fleets mission-ready.
Transport Canada RPAS training
Operator certification and mission-specific courses.
Remote Operations Center

FAQ
Defence & national security FAQ
Does Remote Robotic Systems supply the Canadian Armed Forces?
+
Yes. Remote Robotic Systems has supplied the Canadian Armed Forces since 2022, and also supports the Canadian Coast Guard.
What does dual-use mean for a defence program?
+
Dual-use means the same robotics capability serves both defence and civil missions. Remote Robotic Systems supplies, integrates, trains, and sustains platforms used by defence and national-security customers as well as public-safety and industrial operators, so lessons, spares, training, and service infrastructure are shared across both.
Where does sovereign Canadian production fit in?
+
Manufacturing is performed by AirMetal Robotics, the manufacturing division of Remote Robotic Systems, from a facility in Kanata, Ontario. AirMetal Robotics is Orqa's exclusive licensed manufacturing and distribution partner in Canada — Orqa designs the MRM platforms in Croatia and AirMetal builds them in Canada.
Who sustains the systems after delivery?
+
Remote Robotic Systems sustains delivered systems through five Canadian offices, OEM-trained repair and calibration, Transport Canada RPAS training, and its Remote Operations Center.
